Ouches...

I had to start my vaccinations today... :-P Not fun.... I got a tetanus booster, and one of 3 hepatitis B shots. I also got a tuberculosis test, which will have to be checked in two days to see if I've been *exposed* to TB.... 3 needles in one day is quite enough for me thank-you very much! My arms are sore, and they kind of feel weird...

This cheers me up, though!!!

But, I'm terribly lazy, and don't feel like posting anything else right now.... bleh....

My day...

Well, I thought I had a dentist appointment this morning at 8:45 am to retake some x-rays, BUT it turns out that the appointment is NEXT Friday... So that stinks. :-P I could have slept in... *sigh*

Then I wrote 3 thank-you's for some scholarships that I recieved, and then I went to John's house, (after taking my brother the weed-wacker, and picking up some stuff) and we watched movies. Poor guy just had his wisdom teeth out yesterday, so he was a little drowsy from the meds.

After I left John's house, I stopped at the gift shop and bought some key-lime pie! YUM! That has got to be one of my all time FAVORITE pies! (And Jessica, if you read this, CALL ME! I don't care what time! I bought you a piece too!) And I also went to the mall, and looked at cards at Hallmark... I didn't see anything that fit what I had in mind, so I bought a strawberry smoothie at Cookies Etc. instead, which was a quicker gratification. I also visited with my friend Jill, from the Europe trip!

Um... next I came home and talked on AOL for a couple hours... Mom yelled at me because I didn't make it to the post office on time...

Then I worked at the movie rental store, from 6-11... It was busy... And I'm still dumbfounded on how many people think that you don't need a membership to rent movies... Uh, hello? What motivation would you have to bring movies back? You have to have a library card to check stuff out at the library! *shakes head* And yes, you have to 18 be to start a membership! A membership is a legal contract... which you cannot lawfully enter as a minor! Stoooopid people!

Now I'm back from work...

Oh, the buick got a flat tire while I was at work... Dad put some air in it, so he could get it to the mechanics, but he said he could hear it hissing out... So that's not so good.

I am also meeting this guy named Jason at a local coffee house tomorrow morning... He's a friend of Isaac's and we started talking on AOL, and decided that since we were both bored, why not be bored together! LOL... so I hope the car gets fixed in time to go meet him.

You know what's really funny? The Reduced Shakespeare Company! They are definately for 'older folks' but they are an absolute RIOT! They do Hamlet in 30 seconds, and then they do it backwards! It's hilarious! http://reducedshakespeare.co.uk/index2.htm -is their website... read the bios if you want any clue as to how funny this group is!

I'm will be playing my flute in a wedding in two weeks! Yay for money! I think it will be fun! The music isn't too bad.

My friend Andrea is coming to visit in *TWO DAYS*!!! I cannot WAIT! It's gonna be so fun! :-D

On Wednesday, I spent the night at Jessica's house! We had a BLAST! We got ambitious and made dinner for her mother, and ourselves... Pizzabread, Poppyseed muffins and this REALLY delicious veggie chip-dip... Soooo none of the stuff really went together, but it all was SO good!!!! I had lots of fun cooking with Jessica! She rocks! *hugs* Then I watched Napoleon Dynamite (Love ya Jess!*wink*) and quickly visited with Sam on MSN. Then early the next morning there was a thunderstorm that woke me up for a bit... Then around 9 am, we got up and put in the movie Troy. It was okay... I was dissapointed in Orlando Bloom's performance... It kinda sucked. Brad Pitt was pretty cool, aside from the fact that he was the ONLY character in the movie who DIDN'T have some form of British accent. It stood out like a sore thumb... (To me, anyways.) But the music, costume/props, and fight scenes were WAY awesome!

OH! And I have officially signed my life away... I have autographed the promisary note for my student loan.... And if I fail to pay it back, the bank will collect their money in the form of one pound of my flesh.... (Not really... I just felt like putting a Shakespeare reference in there...) But I hear they might accept first-born children.... (Just kidding, again!)

Whew! It's late, and I'm tired, so I'm gonna go to bed...

Lyrics dedicated to a beloved pet...

Arnold the Pygmy Puff,
Is cute and fuzzy!
When he sings,
he sounds all buzzy!
He's a ball of fluff,
Who knows lots of stuff!
He's Arnold the Pygmy Puff!!!!!

Final Europe Journal Post

7-16-04

Weather: Sunny
Current Location: On the bus, driving to Rothenburg.
Current Time: 3:35 pm CET (8:35 am CST)
Current mood: Sad/tired
Current music: "Prayer of the Children"

We visited Dachau today.

How could anyone cause another person, or group of people so much pain?

My first impression of the Nazi concentration camp, Dachau was of emptiness... For in the whole space of the first camp the Nazi’s build, only the officer buildings, and 2 prisoner cells remained. There was a courtyard covered in gravel. On one side, nearest to the officer buildings was a monument to the martyrs who where killed, or died there during the war. On the monument was written, in several languages: "Never Again." Father on was a large morbid metal sculpture depicting the dishonored, twisted, dead bodies there were so carelessly discarded during the time of the Nazi occupation.

The officer building had been converted into a museum, informing of the prisoner’s daily life, the hard work, starvation, the sickness, beatings, mutilation, despair, medical experimentation, constant aura of death, and merciless soldiers, and the murder of thousands of lives... The faint hope of liberation...

At 1:00 pm our group watched a film about Dachau, showing what it was like to live there, what the prisoners did, showing what it was like to die there...

After the film, we went to a special church on the other end of the camp, built to honor the prisoners who stayed at Dachau. The choir was to sing "Prayer of the Children" there.

To get to the church, you had to walk past the courtyard, past the remaining prisoner housing, across what was left of the other prisoner housing to the church, the guard towers, and barbed-wire lined fences keeping a morbid vigil as I walked past.

As I walked across the courtyard, I could see in my mind’s eye, the rows and rows of skeletal prisoners... The heartless Nazi guards patrolling the ranks, as roll call was held... The prisoner’s ghostly faces staring straight ahead, hoping the guards would pass them by.

As I walked past the prisoner housing, into the open space that used to hold more similar housing, I began to realized how horrific everything was. The very air and ground seemed to cry out with the pain and horror, the sadness and injustice of the dead prisoners... I gazed upon the rows and rows and rows of long raised cement rectangles, left in place of where the prisoners would sleep, and was left to imagine how ANYONE could come out of this alive... How ANYONE could be so in humane to do this to a person?

In the church, as the choir sang "Prayer of the Children" the whole room filled with the power of music, as we tried to honor those who suffered and died there.

As I glanced around the room, amid the tears streaming down my face, there was not one person who was not expressing sorrow in some way...

Sam Newport saw that I was crying and came over and gave me a comforting nudge... As the song continued, she began to cry as well, so I gave her a comforting nudge back, When the song ended, after the last notes had died away, all that could be heard was the constant sniffing of about 100+ people who were crying... All mourning the injustices that were done to those people during the World Wars. A group of girls were huddled around Takara, who was sobbing so hard she was shaking, and this guy, Cress was kneeling on the floor, in prayer, crying as well. The group with Takara slowly began to move to the exit, and Malynda saw that I was crying, and gave me a hug. We slowly filtered out of the church to head back to the bus.

Walking back across the now empty prisoner housing I realized that the grass. weeds, even some dandelions would not have been there during the time the camp was in use... The prisoners would have eaten them all... So in it’s own way, nature honors all the prisoners who stayed there.

Of Harry Potter and Summer Movies

Okay, so I had this really cool post going on yesterday, but blogger ate it for some reason, so I'm re-posting some stuff today... which is kinda a pain... :-P

Last night, at midnight, I went and picked up my very own copy of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE! It was SO much fun! I got home around 12:30 am, and read the 1st chapter and went to bed. I plan to spend the whole day happily reading away... No spoilers yet, but don't worry, if I feel the need to write about it, I will figure out a way to post it so you don't have to read it if you don't want to. It's only fair.

Grrr! When will my stupid college tell me who my roommate is???? I WANT TO KNOW!!! I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!!!

I just spent the whole morning with my friend Jessica. It was lots of fun! First we went and got our eyebrows waxed, (which we had been wanting to do together since January) and then we went and had breakfast at our local coffee shop. I hada Chai Tea, and an egg, cheese, and bacon breakfast sandwich on a croissant. YUM! And Jessica had a delicious fruit smoothie, and a blueberry scone. We had lots of fun just talking... We actually had a lot to catch up on... After all, I haven't seen her since Wedensday! (And I'm not being sarcastic either... It seemed like forever since we last saw each other!)

I have decided to declare this the Summer of Movies... Not only did I get to ACT in one, I have watched SO many new movies, both at home, and in the theater (duh) that are new to me... I feel obligated to try, and make a list... In no particular order:

Ghostbusters
Braveheart
In Good Company
Dragonheart
Dragonheart 2
STAR WARS EPISODE 3
Boonedock Saints
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
War of the Worlds
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Spanglish
Coach Carter
Timeline
Legends
Be Cool

Soon to be added to the list: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Napoleon Dynamite, and Hitch.

Okay... so that list doesn't look *as long* now that I have it typed up, but oh well... I think I'm going to start on Half-Blood Prince now....

*hyperventilates* harrypotterharrypotterharrypotterharrypotter!!!!!

Europe Journal, entry 15

7-15-04

Weather: Partly cloudy
Current Location: Our hotel in Seefeld Austria.
Current Time: 11:45 pm CET (4:45 pm CST)
Current mood: Sleepy/full of bratwurst
Current music: "I’m blue, da-ba-dee..."

Today we went to Venice! It was a very long bus ride. There are a lot of old things there... (duh)... I had lots of ice cream, and I fed the pigeons in St. Mark’s Square. I also got to "sing" with the choir in St. Mark’s Church. It was cool.

I am now a part of this group that sits in the back of the bus called "The Mosse." It’s like a "posse" but with an "M" instead of a "P," ’cuz Matt Mercer started it. It is fun.
Austria is really neat! Last night for dinner, we had wiener schnitzel, which is veal, which is young calf. It was really good!

We had to get up at 4:15 am today to leave for Venice.

For dessert last night we had strawberries and whipped cream... The strawberries were SO good!

Yesterday we went to Innsbruck and saw the Olympic Ski Jump, and then we visited Swarofski’s, the famous Austrian Crystal Jeweler. I bought a pair of earrings and a matching necklace for 23.00 Euros.

Tomorrow we go to Rothenburg Germany, and on our way we will visit Dachau.

Europe Journal, entry 14

7-12-04

Weather: Cloudy
Current Location: On route to Austria.
Current Time: 10:53 am CET (3:53 am CST)
Current mood: Tired/hungry.
Current music: "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins.

The castle we saw, Chateau de Chillon was so cool! We saw some of the secret passage ways and stuff. We saw the dungeon as well.

Last night we had a party! We danced to polkas, and we did the Hokey Pokey.
One polka in particular was really fun! (And I’m not talking about the Chicken Dance— which we did also...) It went like this: You make 2 lines, one of boys, and one of girls. At the start of the line there are 3 chairs and a flag. At the start of the polka, one guy sits in the middle chair hold onto the flag. Then 2 girls come and sit on either side, and they have to convince the guy that he should pick her, and dance down the aisle of people. The guy gives the flag to the girl he doesn’t want to dance with. The girl with the flag then moves to the middle chair and gets to pick between 2 guys who to dance down the aisle with. It was really fun! I got picked first when it was my turn. And the guy wasn’t a bad dancer.

Then one of the guys from the polka band took out this old hollowed out broom and played it like a trumpet! It was so cool!

THEN— he got out one of those gigantic alpine horns and played it for us. After that David Lang, one of the advisors, who solos on his euphonium in the song "Napoli" came up and played it. David Lang played "Amazing Grace." He was really good. Then another member of the polka band came out into the audience and picked some people to try and play the alpine horn. I got picked! It was really neat! I don’t have enough brass chops to actually play anything worth listening to, but I can get different pitches! That was way cool!

Also at the party, these 3 Swiss, 70-year-old ladies from Geneva gave us a concert! They had 2 different sized accordions and one of them played a bike pump like a kazoo! It was really awesome! Then they yodeled for us. I loved it! I wish I could yodel... On their final song, the lady who played the bike pump brought out one of the boxes that they pack the accordions in, and an egg whisk, and played the box like a drum! It was great!

Oh... After we toured the Castle of Chillon we went to Montreux and shopped for a while. Nicole and I went and looked at stuff. On Geneva we saw 2 swans and a mother duck w/ 3 ducklings! It was so cute!

Nicole and I had ice cream 3 times yesterday! It made me happy. I had ice cream for lunch, ice cream in Montreux, and ice cream that looked like the Swiss flag for dessert that night! It was good!

We’re on our way to Austria via Liechtenstein right now.

(Later)

Weather: Rainy/snowy
Current Location: Our hotel room in Champery
Current Time: 11:45 pm CET (4:45 pm CST)
Current mood: Full of chocolate!
Current music: Sleigh Ride

We went to Zermatt today and saw the Matterhorn. I got my picture taken with a St. Bernard. It turned out really good! I like it!

I had ice cream in the town of Zermatt. It was SO good! I want more!

I bought lots of things today and yesterday... Yesterday I bought some cat figurines... Today at Zermatt I bought 3 postcards, a cool head band, 1 photo, a shirt, lunch, ice cream, 3 pastries, 2 pops, and back at Champery I bought 22.50 Francs worth of chocolate. Tomorrow we get to sleep in till 7 am! Yay!

I am wearing my new winter hat band... I feel special.

We had our choir/band concert tonight for the people of Champery. The enjoyed it very much. We got an encore for "Stars and Stripes." Some people were waving signs that said "One More Time." I really enjoy seeing how people enjoy music.

The whole town is like a Christmas/gingerbread type place. I’m in love! The Alps are SO gorgeous! And everything is so fresh!

The people are really friendly.

Tomorrow, after we finish shopping at 12:35 pm, we’re going to see a castle. Yay!
Last night, Jill, Anne and I washed clothes... It was very interesting. Ha, ha! Jill and Anne washed clothes in the tub, and I used the sink. It took us a half hour to figure out how to string up the clothes-line and make it work.

Have I mentioned that the chocolate here is the best ever?

In our hotel room we have a wardrobe that looks like you could go to Narnia through it.

So far, the only wild life I’ve seen on the Alps is one deer... I thought there would be goats or something.

Smoking Manners...

Because I haven't posted anything really funny for a while check this out!

On the way up to the church all these black ‘Jamaican’ guys tried to make us friendship bracelets for some money... We said "no" like, a million times. They got mad when we said no and walked away.

Then, behind the church, all these local arts pester you to let them draw your picture... And you again have to say "no" a MILLION times!

For lunch Jill, Anne, and I ate in this cool little pub. I had a Corque Madame. It was really good! A Corque Madame is a fried ham sandwich with cheese and a fried egg on top. A Corque Monsieur is the same thing without the egg.

After we were done there we went to the Louvre... the famous art gallery were the Mona Lisa is kept. I got to see it! AND I took a picture. I also got to see the "Coronation of Josephene"... then I wandered around the Louvre and looked at other artworks... I bought a calligraphy set and book at the gift shop there.

After the Louvre, we went to the expensive area of Paris to "shop"... Ha, ha... I couldn’t afford anything there so I helped Nicole phone home.

We saw the hotel where the Princess Diana stayed before she died, and the tunnel where she had her accident.

Then we had some yummy dinner and went back to the hotel.

I mailed a package home of all the souvenirs I bought in London and Paris.

We’re on our way driving to Switzerland! We’ve driven by about 4 fields filled with sunflowers! The sun is momentarily shining, and everything is a nice shade of green.
Yesterday a tour guide rode w/ us on our coach, and gave a tour of Paris. We saw the Arc de Triumph, St. Genevieve’s Church, and listened to a lot of different dates in history.

People in France do not know how to drive! Oh, my gosh! They are worse then the English!

Pain au Chocolate are my favorite things ever! They are croissants with chocolate in them. They are SO good!

During the tour we stopped for an hour in central Paris. I exchanged some money, and then we (Josh, Jeana, and I. Jeana is an advisor) tried to go and see the Paris Opera House... The line was too long, and so we just went to the gift shop. We were really bummed that we couldn’t see the Opera House.

After that, we went to Monmarte, and visited this big church on the hill. It was really cool! I went with Anne and Jill.

I’ll finish later... The bus is really bumpy right now.

-When people say Harry Potter is dumb and for little kids.

-When people swear.

-People who don’t know how to drive.

-Forgetting my bow tie and left dress shoe for the band concert.

-People who don’t practice very good personal hygiene.

-People who wear sandals, when they have the absolutely grossest toenails ever!

-Stupid people... ‘nuff said.

-Long bus rides.

-Not being given enough time to visit the Paris Opera House, Westminster Abbey, Madame
Toussade’s, (sp? the wax museum) and Windsor.

-Rain.

-Changes in air pressure.

-Not getting enough sleep.

Stupid Question of the Day from Movie Gallery:

"Do you guys have the 3rd STAR WARS movie on DVD yet?"

Oh, my gosh people! In a*week* it will out exactly ONE month!!!! DVD?! Are you crazy?! *Just* because it's not in theaters around *here* doesn't mean it's out on DVD yet.... Sheesh!

Oh, and yes I am ABSOLUTELY sure that ALL of our copies of "The Pacifier" are checked out... You asked when you walked in, I checked, and there were none... There are still none as you leave. And don't get mad at me! How is it my fault that other people got there first, or that they won't return their movies on time???? For pete's sake, if it's such a big deal, go to Target and by the gosh darn thing!!!!!!!

-As you can see, I had an exciting day at work... Stupid, stupid people.... *shakes head*

Oh, and Wal-Mart, if my photos aren't done tomorrow, I am gonna pitch a fit! The sign for the holiday week *said* that if film was dropped off on Sunday, (the 3rd) it would be done on Thursday... So I stopped in on Thursday, and the lady said that they weren't done, come back tomorrow. So today, I put $10 of gas in the van, drive out to Wal-Mart and they STILL weren't done!!!!!!!!! And they told me to come back tomorrow!!!!! They have been there five days.... How long does it take to develope pictures, people????? *fumes*

I'm gonna finish my McDonalds and go to bed.

After we finally got to Paris yesterday we went to the restaurant. I tried the red wine... I didn’t like it... :-P

Today we have yummy croissants for breakfast!

We went to the Eiffel Tower today. A kid was 20 MINUTES LATE FOR THE FREAKING BUS! Holy cow! I was SO mad! We almost didn’t get to go up on the tower!!!! I went up only to the 1st level because we only had time to take the stairs!

Then we went to the choir concert at St. Severin’s Church. I got to sit next to Mark! *warm fuzzies* He has a girlfriend, but at least we’re friends.

Oh! Last night I had packed for today, and after the Eiffel Tower, we were changing for the choir and band concert, I realized that I had only packed one shoe! (My good shoes) And it was the shoe that had my bow tie in it that I forgot... So I had to borrow a tie from a choir person, and black shoes from someone in the back. I won’t let that happen again!

The we (after the choir concert, and before the band one) went and saw the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Oh, my gosh!!! That was SO amazing! I lit a candle at the shrine of St. Therese of Lessux.

Then we had the band concert... In Luxemburg Gardens... In the rain... Not too exciting.

After that we went on a boat ride on the river Seine. It was fun! Near the end, we met these 12 year-old boys from Wales... They were big show-offs! J Let’s just say that if Matthew talked like that I would clock him in the head.

Dinner was really good at the restaurant. The main meal was chicken, and dessert was chocolate mousse!

Tomorrow we are visiting the Louvre.

Goodnight!

Sad day...

I feel really bad about what happened in London today.... I think that is horrible! What also bothers me is that I was in London last year on this date! I've been to one of the Tube stations that got bombed... *shakes head* I don't know what to say... These types of things are just wrong...

Current Time: 10:21 am GMT (4:21 am CST)
Current mood: Tired/excited
Current music: The final credits theme from Star Wars "A New Hope".

We’re sitting here on the bus waiting to board the ferry to go to France. We’re in Dover. Over my shoulder are the White Cliffs of Dover. They’re white because they’re made out of chalk.

On the top of the hill is a castle... I don’t remember which one...

We had to get up early to leave today. It’s about 2 hours from London to Dover. The English countryside is so pretty!

A little more about the Tower of London... I really didn’t talk about it much... It was really impressive! There were several amazing swords for different events, some with very ornate pommels. The scabbards were just as cool as the swords! There were lots of stones on some of the sheaths. There was a sapphire that was almost as big as my fist! It was set in the coronation crown. There were several other tiaras as well. What a lot of diamonds!!!

That same day we rode the "Tube" and saw Big Ben. The bell behind the clock face is actually called Big Ben, after a champion prize fighter in the 1800’s, but now the whole building is referred to as ‘Big Ben’. The bell weighs over 1400 lbs.

We also saw, from the outside, Westminster Abbey.

We’re boarding the ferry.

Am I loved?

I've stood next to you,
You know that I'm there,
If I told you my feelings,
Would you really care?

I see you with another,
I yern for her grace,
To be loved by you,
To be in her place...

But I do not know,
Of what you think,
So I'll treasure our friendship,
Our one binding link...

The loneliness I feel,
Burns a hole in my heart,
To be so near each other,
But so far apart.

(c) 2005 Sarah/Exuberante Flauto

Yep, that poem describes exactly how I feel right now... I'm not at liberty to elaborate about 'who' this poem refers too, but they are out there. I basically just want to feel loved, and wanted... I want to be with people who enjoy my company, and Itheirss... But to feel loved... LOVED... That is atrulyy great thing, and a very precious gift... To me, it seems to be a very high prize, which seems unattainable... A faint hope burns in me, however, telling me that I will find this treasure... Someday... *sigh*

On a happier note, I stopped at John's house last night to see the movie trailer, and it is WICKED AWESOME!!!!! (Current running time of said trailer: 4 min. 45 sec. oh, yeah!) John and Drew did an AMAZING job putting it together! It looks so good, I am just beside myself!!!! The way they did it, it just fits so well, with the music they put to it, and everything... I absolutely cannot wait for this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My siblings are outside doing some post-4th of July sparklers, but now it sounds like they have graduated to catching fireflies. :-)

Tomorrow I head off to the Girl Scout camp to drop off the project that I FINALLY got done! Yay!

Jessica and I went and saw "War of the Worlds" last Sunday. It was good, just not the movie for me... *shrugs* And on the topic of movies, I finished watching "Braveheart!" I now love that movie!!!!! It was awesome! I could barely get past the first 20 minutes of "Indigo," so who knows what that is about... I got bored with it. I also watched "In Good Company. That is a good movie too!!! It made me smile! :-)

Yesterday, I also went out on the jet-ski with Jessica, Kelvin and Scott... We all took turns of course... LOL! But it was way fun! I got a little sunburned on my forehead, along my hair line, because I put sunscreen on without a mirror. :-) And I'm a little sore today from that, but it was worth it!

On the Fourth, work was quite slow, so I got to go home early, and then I had my municipal band concert at 8:30, which went on FOREVER!Butt after that I got to see the fireworks with Jessica! I've spent the whole weekend with her!!! How incredibly fun is that? YAY!

Well, that's what's shakin' at this popsicle stand... for now anyways...

Current Time: 10:53 pm GMT (4:53 pm CST)
Current mood: More content then before.
Current music: "Can you hear the People sing?" from Les Mis

-"Mind the Gap!" — Random Subway or "Tube" voice.

-"Look, there’s a pigeon!" "Phone the Mayor!" — Allen our tour guide and us, as we toured London. It’s illegal to feed pigeons in London.

-"The Mayor is calling out the S.W.A.T. team, a fleet of machine gun helicopters, and a firing squad to get rid of the pigeons." — Allen on our tour.

"I can’t close the door, your bum’s too big!" — Elevator, or "Lift" attendant to a big, tall, "stocky" guy who ran on to join us, who were already crammed into the lift... The door wouldn’t shut because he was in the way...

After I finished writing my last entry, we left Victoria Embankment Gardens and went to Covent Gardens. It was fun! We saw some cool shops. It looked like the market from "My Fair Lady."

We saw this street performer, who after doing some juggling, did his final act of riding on this 5 ft unicycle, while juggling 2 machette knives, and an apple. Before he started though, he picked out a girl from the audience to be his "assistant." When he brought her in front of the crowd, he introduced her, and said in England, that this was how they greeted "ladies," and he kissed her on her hand. Then he indicated for her to give him a peck on the cheek in return... Then, as she leaned forward, he turned his head at the last minute, and she ended up kissing him flat out on the lips! It was really funny, but boy, was that girl surprised!

For dinner, Nicole, Brandon (this guy from our bus) and I ate at this restaurant called "Points." I had a BLT. It was good.

Then, when we were done at Covent Gardens, Mr. Newport took our group to King’s Cross Station!!! I got to see, touch, and photograph Platform 9 ¾!!! How cool is that?!

I’m really bummed that I didn’t get to see much of Mark... He’s on the Yellow Bus... That kinda put me in a bad mood today for awhile, but that’s how it goes sometimes... And the fact that I’m really tired doesn’t help either...

Tomorrow we leave for Paris! I am definitely coming back to London... I didn’t get to see all of the Tower of London, or Westminster Abbey, or St. Martin’s in the Fields, or St. Paul’s Cathedral, or the Globe Theater, or Baker Street, or Madame Toussaude’s...

I’m going to shower and go to bed!

Current music: 20th Century Fox Theme

They’re not giving us enough time to do things...

Yesterday we went and saw the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London, then we had our concert, then we went to Harrod’s, then I went and saw Les Miserables.

Les Miserables was really cool! Even though I wanted to see Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis was great!

The set was like a big turnstile, and the actors would walk around, and the stage would turn, and it was like they were traveling.

The lighting was cool, and the fight/war scenes were neat! There was a lot of smoke, and the guns made me jump.

The singing was phenomenal!!! There was a really cute guy who led the revolution! (I think the character’s name as Enjolras, or something.)

I sat in the middle row ("E") of the balcony, in seat #10. I met this nice lady from Wales, and we talked before the show started.

I want to see this show again! I’m addicted!

7-4-04 ... Happy 4th!

Weather: I don’t know, it’s dark out...
Current Location: In our hotel in London.
Current Time: 11:04 GMT (5:06 pm CST)
Current mood: Sleepy/content
Current music: ...

Busy day! We went to Windsor... And saw the castle far away... We couldn’t get very close... We didn’t know where to go. I got some ice cream! It was good! Mark got some spaghetti... It was really messy... He was eating it and it got on me too!

Then we went shopping... I found this REALLY COOL nautical shop! I bought a little ship, and 3 key chains for me, Jessica and Julia. I bought some postcards also. Then we found this bookstore, and I bought Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix. I also bought some HP playing cards. *happy dance*

Our city specialists had a special dinner for us. Then we toured down town London. We took the "Tube". I saw Piccadilly Circus and the places around there. It was so cool! All the lights!

It’s late, so I’m going to bed.

7-4-04 *HAPPY 4TH OF JULY*

Weather: Not quite sure... I’m still on the plane, I don’t know what’s going on down there...
Current Location: In the air, flying to London.
Current Time: 7:00 am GMT (2:00 am CST)
Current mood: Sleepy/excited
Current music: "The Star Spangled Banner"

GMT stands for ‘Greenwich Mean Time" NOT "General Motors Time" like I was trying to convince Mom earlier.

The plane food was "okay". I didn’t eat a whole bunch. Then they showed a movie about Elvis, from the Travel Channel, and some other stuff. Then the "real" movie was "Welcome to Mooseport" but I slept... as well as I could...

These airline chairs don’t give you a lot of room to be comfortable., and I lost my little pillow that came with my seat. Oh, well...

We are going to arrive in London in about and hour and a half! After customs and luggage claim, we’re off to see Windsor Castle in the city of... Windsor... ha, ha.

Okay, so I want to get up and use the WC (water closet) or "Loo," (Hey, I’m going to Britain) and put my contacts in, but the drink carts are coming, and I don’t want to get in their way.

I hope I can meet back up with Mark in London... His stop, since he’s on the Yellow Bus, and I’m on Blue, was Newark, not Minneapolis.

... My hair is all messy... And I haven’t washed my face.... I hope I don’t have a lot of break-outs.

I haven’t gotten air-sick yet! I am happy! I only got carsick on the bus trip from Cedar Rapids to Chicago.

The plane gives out these headphones the you plug in, and you can listen to different types of music, or listen to the movie. I’ve listened to the classical station for... I don’t know... 4-5 hours, and I have discovered that after about 30 songs or so, the play list starts over...

A lot of people on the plane are still sleeping... It’s funny to look at them.

Well, the drink cart is almost here...

~Later

Weather: Cloudy.
Current Location: In the air, flying to Minneapolis.
Current Time: 2:35 pm CST
Current mood: Whatever
Current music: "Way up in the Sky"

Okay, so trying to doze off on the bus was a bad idea... I got really carsick, and I threw-up 3 times. L But I’m better now.

Our plane finally took off... an hour later... I’m flying in the air! It’s really fun... but my ears keep popping. We’re above the clouds now. The stewardesses are coming with the drink cart.

Megan, who is a flute player from Pella told me this really funny joke:

These people are sitting in their seats waiting for the pilot and co-pilot to board the plane... So finally they come aboard, and the pilot has a see-eye dog, and the co-pilot has a blind cane... Well, the passengers start to get a little nervous... They try and convince themselves that it’s a joke...

The plane starts taking off, and people wonder if the blind pilot is really the one driving the plane. As the plane is speeding down the runway, the passengers notice that it stops at the shore of a very big lake. The plane draws closer and closer to the lake, and the people start to get really scared... And as the end of the runway came into view, the passengers began to scream. Suddenly, the plane takes off, just before plunging into the water. As the plane ascended the pilots voice came over the loud-speaker:

"You know, one of these days, no-one will scream, and then it will be too late..."

*laughs*

Right now, the plane it in the middle of a cloud... everything is out the window is white... It’s kinda boring.

Okay, so the stewardess just came by and handed out free pretzels and they are SO salty!

We’re flying to Minneapolis now, and I hope we make our flight there, to London at 7:00 pm.

I didn’t see much of Chicago... I was sick in the bathroom on the bus. I saw, like, one toll stop, and that’s it...

Wow, we’re above the clouds... It looks beautiful! Like fresh white, fluffy snow, with frozen rivers and lakes of the clearest blue... :-)

Okay, so the pilot just announced that the we should arrive in Minneapolis at 3:15 pm.

I need to chew some gum...

Every Long Journey

Every long journey is made of small steps,
Is made of the courage, the feeling you get.
When you know its been waiting, been waiting for you,
The journey’s the only thing that you want to do.

We cannot know what you go through,
Or see through your eyes,
But we will surround you with pride undisguised.
In every direction, whatever your view,
You’re taking our love there with you.

Every long journey, what drives you to go?
It’s half of what you know, and half what you don’t.
The secret’s been waiting, your heart’s got the key,
The secret’s the only think you want to see.

Every long journey begins with a dream,
A spirit, the courage to make it all come real.
The dream has been calling you, been calling to you,
The dream is the only thing you want to do.

We cannot know what you go through,
Or see through your eyes,
But we will surround you with pride undisguised.
In every direction, whatever your view,
You’re taking our love there with you.
~~~
White wings, they never grow weary,
They carry me cheerily over the sea.
Night falls, I call to my dearie,
And spread out my wings,
And fly home to thee.
7-3-04
Weather: Wet and Cloudy.
Current Location: On route to Chicago...
Current Time: 5:15 am CST
Current mood: Sleepy
Current music: "Fandango" from our concert last night.
Okay, so trying to function on only 2 hours of sleep is not the easiest thing ever... We had "wake-up call" at 3:15 am and then we had to get up and be ready to leave our hotel rooms at 4.
It doesn’t really help that my roommates, Ellen, Cait, Miah, and I, stayed up till 2 am... With the hyper/excited/way-too-sleepy-to-make-any-sense giggles.
The first night at the Crown Plaza, the lights went out— something I’ve never had happen in a hotel before! So everyone sat out in the hall, (where the lights were working) and played cards and stuff.
Our band rehearsals were very intense... But very fun! They were hard work, but it was gratifying.
Last night at the concert— Oh, my gosh! it was SO cool! We had an awesome crowd! Lots and lots of applause! At the end when we play "Stars and Stripes Forever" people stood up at the solo piccolo part and started clapping along! I teared up...
Right now I’m on our coach, heading off to Chicago. I on the ‘Blue’ coach.
As of late I’ve been spending a lot of time with this guy named Mark Skaden. He’s a percussionist from Kalona. He just graduated. He’s really nice, and good-looking, and he’s asked me to do things with him a couple times... We went to Dairy Queen the other night... Unfortunately, my ice cream melted all over my hand on our walk back to the hotel! But Mark was very nice about that. Yesterday morning we went and got some coffee, and we had lunch with some friends, and had dinner together at Brugger’s Bagels. We found this little candy shop, and we both had lots of fun buying sweets for the plane!
We rehearsed yesterday afternoon at the Paramount Theater.. It was so cool!!! I explored on my break, then showed Mark around after rehearsal.
Today my plane leaves from Chicago at 1:00 pm, then we fly to Minneapolis, then at 7:00 pm we fly to London.
I’m going to try and sleep doze off now...
-Schnoebbles
Cool idea...
Throughout the month of July, I will be posting entries from the journal I kept on my Europe trip, trying to match the dates with the 2005 posting. I think that would be a cool way to remember all the fun I had on that trip, and give everyone who hasn't had a chance to read my journal something to laugh about... :-) To limit the confusion, I will post my Europe journal in the color lavender, and my normal posts in black.
I just got back from the Other Place, where Lisa and Matty and I all went out for pizza after work. It was a lot of fun, and that pizza really hit the spot.
Movies that I rented: Braveheart (Aren't you proud of me, Isaac?), In Good Company, and this movie called Indigo, which looked interesting... I'll have to get back to you when I actually figure out what it's about...
Today Jess and I worked on our "secret project" for Julia!!! Yay! It was WAY fun!!!!
So I'll go post my Europe journal entry, and head off to bed!
Work, work, work...
This is my work shedule for next week:
Monday the 4th: Movie Gallery 10 am to 4 pm, then I have a municiple band concert at 8:30 pm.
Tues.: Movie Gallery, 3-8.
Wed.: completely off... YAY!
Thurs.: At the gift shop, 3-8
Fri.: Movie Gallery, 5-11
Sat.: Movie Gallery 5-10
I think that is insane, but I need the money.
Well, the good news is, that the movie is pretty much under wraps... Yay post-production! The sad news is, I no longer have a good excuse to hang out with Isaac, John and Drew... They are way fun, and now my summer seems boring.... What to do? What to do?
I went and saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith the other day with Jessica, her boyfriend Scott, and Kelvin. I liked that movie! The action/adventure stuff TOTALLY rocked!!!! I wish I had hair that would stay perfect and beautiful no matter what I did.... :-)
I finally got my community service project done! It took me a year and a half to finish it, but it's done. *celebrates* Now I just have to finish my graduation thank-you's...
Totally random occurance: Last night on MSN, my friend Linda, who lives in New Zeland jumped on! It was around 1:30 am here, but I didn't care! I really haven't heard from her for almost 2 years! It made me so happy! And she said that she had read my blog! *squeals* YAY Linda!
Oh, Sam! *cyberhug* I hope we can get together in September! I miss you!
Here's something to make you smile... It's a collection of nativity scenes.. gone wrong....
*sings* Mud, mud, glorious mud...!
Monday around 3 pm I went over to Elias's house to work on the movie. Since I had finished all of my character's scenes, I got to be an extra... It was kind of interesting, to say the least... LOL! Between John and Isaac, no one had much of a clue as to who was coming and who wasn't.... Poor communication seems to be rampant throughout this whole production... :-) And while we were waiting for more people to come, it starts to sprinkle. So John decides to get production going, and he and Isaac leave to make a grave site for my character, and eventually John's character. So they trudge off through this muddy bean field to the forest behind Elias's house, leaving Laura, Anna, who is an extra also, and I to find some flowers to pick for the grave, and Drew just tagged along with us.
So we start picking wild flowers, and the rain picks up. So we figure, "hey, we're already wet" so we play around in the rain, because it's still warm, and it feels nice. Then Elias's older sister comes out and says that we should watch out for flash flooding because the nearby creek has a tendancy to over flow. So we decide that maybe we should find John and Isaac and tell them to be careful. Then Laura, who I think was just fed up with not knowing what was going on, decides to take charge and lead the group in finding the guys, and we all kind of agreed that we would like a better route then walking a 1/4th of a mile to the forest, through a muddy bean field. So what do we do?
We ford the creek, which was indeed, beginning to overflow its bank... Yes, I said ford the creek. It was cold.... and it came up to about the middle of my thigh... AND I really considered being ticked off about becoming even more soaking wet, but I figured be being grouchy wasn't going to help the situation any... After all, everone else was wet and muddy too. What right did I have to complain? So we forded the creek, and began to make our way through the underbrush to the film site... And when we arrive, there is no one there!
Grrrr...
We were on one side of the film site, and to get to the main part, do you know what we had to do? Ford the creek again... *sigh* Which we of course do... But since there is no one there, Laura decides to lead us back to Elias's house.... through the bean field, which we had tried to avoid in the first place! (I have given-up trying to understand her logic.) So, after we got Drew out of the creek.... (He was having fun, playing in the water.) We began to wade through the mud, and we FINALLY find John, who says that we should go get costumed up, and ready to shoot. So we treck back to Elias's house and there, at the edge of the bean field is Isaac, Elias, and some other people, and they tell us that basically the same thing: Get costumes and props, and get ready to film.
So Laura, Anna, Drew and I raid various spots in Elias's yard where we had stashed the costumes and props out of the rain, and another extra shows up... Which sets Laura off again, because how is *this* person going to know where everyone is, and what's going on... So we get him a costume, and stomp back through the field to the shoot.
At the site, most of the guys are in the creek, because John decided that it would be cool to film this skirmish in the water... (The grave-site ended up being left for a drier day...) So they film for a little bit, work on some sword moves, re-shoot... And since I am an extra, I have to make sure that my face is covered, so the audience doesn't freak out, thinking that Rebecca is a double agent... It's pretty funny! I look lilke a ninja with bad sword fighting skills... So I 'fight' Anna, and totally suck... LOL! And then they film more of the fighting in the creek... Stuff like that... And then I get to 'die'. I run up, and try to kill Laura, and John throws a knife, and kills me. It took like, 4 takes.... but it will be okay, I guess. *laughs*
So we finally call it a wrap for the day, and we made our way back through the stupid bean field. (I honestly don't think I've been so muddy in my life!) And back at the house, we all fight for the hose, and some of the guys go and play in the creek some more... Which was most amusing! Then it started lightening again, and we were all hungry. So we decide to go eat at Be-Bops, which is a hamburger joint, by Wal-Mart. We decided on Be-Bops because you can only eat outside, and no one felt like going home to change out of our muddy clothes. But we discovered that it was pretty cold out, sitting in wet clothes, so we all went and ate our food in my mini-van. It was great fun!
So that was Monday in a nutshell... *laughs* Fording creeks, and mud! :-) Fun stuff!
