Whoohoo! Update!

So I made it home last night about 9 pm and it is kind of nice to be home, but it's weird.

And I miss people. Like Friday night and Saturday night I hung out with some band people and a lot of seniors. And I realized that the seniors and their friends who had already graduated, and were there visiting are way freaking awesome.

And I wish I had taken the opportunity to hang out with them more during the school year. I am going to miss them. A lot.

I finnaly got the chance to meet the famous Chris, who everyone calls Army Chris. (Because he was in the army. Duh. ) He's pretty freaking awsome. And he gives amazing backrubs, and the best hugs I've ever experienced. Seriously... This isn't a frivolous "Oh, I'm your friend, I'll give you a hug" type thing... This a hug with extreme commitment. Think: bone-crushing upper body strength, not restrained, but containted in the hug. Simply amazing.

I must state that Brett also gives really good hugs AND backrubs and I miss them! Like, a lot.

I now would like to state as a reminder of all time that it is possible to get sunburnt on a cloudy day.

It is possible to get very sunburnt on a cloudy day, especially when you are jet-skiing.

And I am in some pain...

In addition to being red and roasted in some places. I definately will be taking some ibuprofen and using some aloe before I go to bed.

But wow... Jet-skiing was soooo fun! It was pretty choppy out on the lake, but that added to the excitement. Bre and I rode together and took turns driving. We were airborne a couple times and definately got soaked by some gigantic spray. The second time we went out we convinced Isaac he should come out again... So he gets another jet-ski and we're all out there having fun, and Bre and I go farther out on the lake so we don't have to worry about other boats. Eventually we came back to where we started out and looked for Isaac... Who we discovered was just sitting there with the jet-ski off.

It turns out it won't stay started, so we try to figure out how to tow him back to the dock... THAT was kind of funny. And I would just like to state that Bre is a sweetheart and sooo helpful, but is just plain silly sometimes. ("Well maybe we could hold hands and just bring it back with the boats side-by-side...")

So we're drifting in the lake, and it's windy so we're getting rather blown off any sort of course, and we're trying to figure out how to tow Isaac back... It turns out that there's a rope in the front of our boat so Breanna throws it to Isaac... Twice, because the first time... wasn't so great...(heehee Bre... ) So we try towing him forward but that was too hard on Isaac's hand, so we ended up towwing Isaac in reverse. Which took a long time and by this time we had drifted kind of far. But we got it to a neighbor's dock, and then JD got it back to the lift.

And I had more that I wanted to write but some things came up on AOL/MSN that took up my time, so now I'm going to bed.

Well...

"I cannot say that I haven't been scarred... Afterall, I have been scarred..." -Shelia, Vietmanese Chess

Well... So here I am...

In my empty dorm room... No more classes... No more school... Just band.

I can't describe how weird it feels knowing I still have to be here through Sunday. Yet SOOOO many people have left because the school year has ended.

A part of me is in awe that I've made it this far, and another wants to run around screaming I'M DONE!!!! I SURVIVED!!!

Sooooo many things have happened this school year... Wow... Just wow... Do you want an overview? Well, it doesn't matter, because I'm gonna remince whether you want to read it or not... Obviously some of these are inside jokes, and it's soooo random and it switches tense, but I don't care.

I've gained so many friends... and lost one or two...

For a while Matt, Rachel and I were known as the "trio" because we were always together... We did almost everything together. Then there was this huge... I don't even know WHAT it was... But suddenly the trio wasn't a trio anymore, with me in the middle for a while.

Got over a heavy crush, by gaining a new crush... Which left me in tears when I FIANLLY realized that my feelings wouldn't be returned, and I saw that the attention I was looking for was directed at another person.

I was exposed to the awesomeness of Wicked, some songs from Avenue Q, Taylor the Latte Boy, Homestarrunner.com, Most Haunted, tickle fights, dancing to Christmas music, the local Chinese Buffet, Boston Legal, House, The Light in the Piazza, and La Boheme.

I no longer am as fond of pumpkins as I once was. But my toenail is back... Completely... Which is good.

One night, at dinner, I randomly asked Julia: "Do you ever look at a person and wonder what gender they are?"

In the whole school year I have pulled ONE (almost) all nighter... I stayed up til 5 am working on my paper for my religion class... Then I slept through all my classes for that day...

I can remember two times when I called home and cried on the phone while talking to my mom.

I like to watch The Swordsmen, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and Pirates of the Caribbean when I get homesick.

When I call home, I always like to see if my little brother will talk to me.

"Moroku's been possed by a giant centipede demon!" --oooh good times watching Inuyasha...

"Screw you! I'm gonna die!"--Rachel pretending to be my ivy plant... which died....

Celebrating my first birthday away from home... And getting birthday cearal in the mail...

Trying to light the candles on my birthday cake... and trying to convince Matt, Julia, Jill, and Rachel that I would NOT burn down the whole dorm complex... Then watching Julia and Rachel light my birthday candles by the open window, with Jill holding the big box fan to blow all the smoke outside and Matt holding a blanket to smother anything that caught on fire.

I had a boyfriend for one week.

Drunk people running around outside at 3 am moaning "Outflyyyyyy"

Going to eat at Famous Daves when it actually was Outfly.

Learing how much I should practice my flute each day.

This school year I cried myself to sleep twice. Once was when the whole fight within the "trio" was going on.

A couple AOL conversations made me cry too.

So did a couple blog posts.

Forgetting that my bed was lofted and freaking out when my alarm went off the first day of classes and sitting up. And smacking my head on the ceiling really hard.

"SARAH! I don't have any pants on!!!!" -Rachel... HAHAHAHA! :-D

I left so many random voicemails on Jessica's phone this year... :-)

"Look at me. I am covered in fun. You are not." -Me

Talking about the differences of celery and rhubarb with Julia at lunch... Which led her to say: "Rhubarb is *this* big... Celery on the other hand, is more celery sized..."

Practicing in the FAC at 12 am.

Seeing John Willaims conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

"INTERUPTING STARFISH!" -*dies*

Once there was a centipede on our carpet and I though it was a piece of hair... and I almost touched it. It was gross.

Almost falling asleep in band when Doc told us to close our eyes, so he could tell us a story.

Going to the Midknight breakfast at the start of fall term finals week.

Violently complaining about ITS when Wartburg Mail said "200 of 200 Users Logged On"

Staying up till 2 am with Rachel doing homework... And being so tired we were just silly and goofy... Almost to the point to where it seemed like we were drunk.

Eating cearal with vanilla ice cream instead of milk.

Matt eating a whole box of Rachel's mom's cookies.

Watching California Rasin Christmas, then White Christmas, then Sweeney Todd during "Christmas movie night" in Lourey's dorm.

Lourey doing my hair. :-)

Dancing with Rob backstage during A Christmas Carol.

Breaking a plate onstage during A Christmas Carol.

Discovering the "noise" for the first time.

Matt, Rachel and I sitting in the girl's bathroom on our floor, at 1 am trying to prove to Matt that there IS a noise.

Turning on all the faucets and flushing all the toilets at the same time while waiting for the noise.

Argueing with Rachel about the room tempurature... :-P

Listening to Brittany, a girl on our floor, run up and down the hallway singing the "Numa-numa" song at the top of her voice.

"AHHHHHHHHH AINT GOT NO BO-O-O-OD-DEEEEE!" -the singing skeleton head in our hallowe'en candy bowl.

Drawing pictures on our whiteboard.

Discovering that Saturday night dinners in the Mensa only last from 5-6 pm.

Ordering pizza and trying to explain to the delivery person where our dorm room is.

Matt doing his impression of Katherine Hepburn.

Discovering the singing mounted deer head at Wal-mart.

Burning popcorn in the microwave.

$1 movie nights.

Rachel throwing paper clips at me.

Talking about kissing and hickies.

Bryan FREAKING OUT because my bra-strap was on the floor.

Standing up under my loft and hitting my head.

Visiting Sam over Fall Break.

Visiting Isaac and Breanna over Tour Week.

Auditioning for Wind Ensemble. Twice.

Playing cards at 12 am in the lounge.

Rocking out to Julia's John Denver record in the FAC.

Backrubs from Jon Runaas. :-)

Taking showers at 2 am.

"OMG! Look at that jawline!"

Trying to argue with Rachel that if wienerschnitzel is made out of veal, which is young calf, chickenschnitzel should be made out of baby chickens...

Our stupid closet doors that are broken...

Pining with Margie and Rachel about being one of those "good girls" and not having a boyfriend.

Singing "John-Jacob-Jingleheimer-Schmit" with Jill and Julia, at the top of our voices, as we came back from band.

Matt, Rachel and I trying to invent a ghost story, to introduce on the Wartburg campus.

Climbing down the ladder of my loft and kicking the bowl of pumpkin seeds all over the floor.

Watching the show Faustus and discovering that Matt Meyer, (not to be confused with the Mason City Matt Meyer) as Mephistopholes looks HOT in goth make-up, spiked hair, pink sparkly disco pants and a fur coat. With high heeled boots. :-D

"C D E D B D Wings..."

Watching Rocky Horror Picture Show... for the first, and last time.

Filling Matt and Bryan's dorm room with 208 balloons for Matt's birthday.

Accidentally washing my chapstick, and discovering it after it had been in the dryer... and opening it and spilling melted, honey-scented chapstick EVERYWHERE!

Washing my work shirt in the sink with dishwasher soap.

"Monks in their monkeries..." -Ooooh Doc.... :-)

Drunk people walking by our window at 11 pm and mooning us... Which was the last time we had our curtains up after dark...

Killing this big, yellow spider with my scientific calculator.

Going on walks with Jill and just talking about life.

Seeing, on one of our walks, this porta-potty on which someone had written on the top: Capacity 10

Music Theory homework parties...

Well, that's all I have for now... Some memories are good... And some are not. That's life. *shrugs*

I guess... I don't know...

I guess I shouldn't have thought everything was going to stay the same...

Life changes... But that's the adventure right?

Random:

Today in band, I all-of-the-sudden remembered last summer when I was at Isaac's house, filming for The Swordsmen and I stepped on what I thought was a garden hose... Which atcually turned out to be a garter snake. It was warm and squishy. Gross... :-P

Wednesday, May 17, 2006

Quack, quack! I'll soon be back!

Saturday, May 13, 2006

Another list...

Okay, the last list is now invalid... I now need to:

1. Write my speech for Oral Comm[iseration]
2. Practice speech for Oral " ["]
3. Survive my crazy work schedule this weekend
4. Memorize lines for The Stupid Play (TSP)... *ahem* I mean Vietnamese Chess
5. Decide what I want to do about TSP
6. Learn how to play D, E, and E-flat above the treble staff on my tenor saxophone

13. Figure out when Payday is here at Wartburg so I can have some much needed, already-spoken-for money
14. Figure out what I'm going to do about the Cholesterol Test in PE on Tuesday... Because no one is here or available to help me with my Belonephobia... i.e. Deep fear of hypodermic needles... All I need is someone who will talk to me to keep me distracted and remind me to breath, probably someone to hold my other hand and won't laugh at me because I know I'll end up in tears... Or faint... And I am not joking.
15. Find time to sleep
16. FILL OUT SUMMER JOB APPLICATIONS!!!

Wow... May term has started to get monotonous....

I have lots of funny stories to share because Jessica came and stayed overnight, but I'm really really tired right now, so that will have to wait.

Wicked tickets have proven to be extremely hard to come by... We finally have gotten 4. *shakes fist at sky*

I fell off the ladder on my loft today. I was standing on the top rung, and pulling out a loose blanket to snuggle up in. I ended up losing my balance and falling backwards. I'm okay, but I'm going to have some amazing bruises on my right arm where I tried to catch myself.

That's all for now... Life is not so fun.

[Edit 5-14-06 12:54 AM]

I have written an amazing outline for my speech, and have almost completed my first ever powerpoint for said speech. I think it looks cool... It's been really hard not to animate everything, but I know that can get distracting.

Wow... some Wicked tickets are going for $2000 on Ebay... crazyness...

Does anyone have a pick-up truck that I could borrow to get my loft home???

I'm off to bed... Sadly I have not crossed anything off this list...

[Edit 5-14-06 7:54 PM]

Crossed out 3, 5 and 13. Payday is tomorrow! Yay!

I am working on #1, 4 and 9.

CRISIS! The Wicked tickets I bought are for Monday not Sunday!!!

Newsflash: I was thinking about it, and it feels like I don't know enough nice guys here at Wartburg... The majority of my guy friends go to other schools.

Sad...

Off to work!

[Edit 5-15-06, 1:35 AM]

I have completed #9 and #1 is almost done.

BIGGER CRISIS! Ebay sellers are messing with my mind!

Update: John R. is a nice guy who goes to Wartburg.

Sarah = bedtime

[Edit 5-15-06 6:43 PM]

I have crossed out #7 and #14. Sarah J. and Laurie said they'll go with me to get my blood drawn.

I submitted one job application today.

It looks like my Wicked tickets are double booked... I'll get to the bottom of this...

Over and out...

[Edit 5-16-06 12:18 AM]

Crossed out #1 and #2... Tomorrow's the big day folks! Wish me luck!

ARGH! Wicked Tickets!!!

:-( Blood test tomorrow...

Wednesday, May 10, 2006

My list...

Okay, I'm jumping on the bandwagon...

1. Study for my PE test tomorrow... It's the equivalent of a "midterm" -check at 1:32 am, 5-11-06
2. Memorize lines for Vietnamese Chess
3. Finish survey for Oral Comm
4. Do Oral Comm homework -check 10:00 am, 5-11-06
5. Make outline for informative speach, for Oral Comm[iseration]
6. Clean Room -pseudocheck at 12:45 am, 5-11-06
7. Wash dishes
8. Clean desk... Because it's a different 'entity' then my room -mmm.. it's now clean enough... so check
9. Memorize lines
10. Shower -check at 12:30 am, 5-11-06
11. Get new flowers for the vase in our room-um check... Rachel ended up doing this, 5-12-06

Okay, that isn't as long as I thought it was... But I have to get most of that done in less then 24 hours and I have to work tonight from 8-11 pm. *scampers off*

Oh, and my sister Mary got the LotR question right... and Scott was on the right track... The answer is Gollum!

'Ello!

Blogger is being stupid.... It won't display photos... I might as well post them on Facebook.

AHHHH! Wicked tickets go on sale on Friday for their sojourn in Minneapolis!!! Yay! I am so excited! I hope we are able to get tickets! That would be amazing!

I have to give an informative speech in Oral Comm next Tuesday. Sometimes I think 'Comm' stands for "Comiseration" instead of Communications. I decided on the topic of Heraldry. So now I'm left with the task of condensing all the stuff I WANT to talk about, which could last 20 minutes minimum, to a 6-7 minute speach... But I'm slightly excited, it has the potential to be cool.

Bleeeeh... I'm kind of in a weird mood tonight... I don't know... At work it seemed all I saw were couples and that made me feel lonely... But I'm not lonely for anyone in particular... I've gotten over those people... I just feel surrounded by people dating! But it would be impractical to start any sort of relationship now... If that was even an option. There are only 12 days left of school!

Which leads me on another tangent...

School is almost over! Part of me is like: WOOHOO! You survived! And another is like: WHAAA! I'm gonna miss everyone! And a third part is like: HEY! You need a job for the summer! So, as you can see, I need to get me and myselves together... lol...
Wow... We've only been rehearsing the play a week and lines were due today. Since I couldn't make it to rehearsal today I have to get them memorized by tomorrow.... I'm in for a fun night.... [/sarcasm]

You know, I'm really glad I am no longer crushing on a specific someone here at school anymore. Wow... was I ever crazy for him almost the whole 1st semester... He's changed so much... He was arrogant before, but now he's also become somewhat of a jerk. He shmoozes about his amazingness, and the other girls fall for it. I don't blame them, but now I see it as soooooo fake. Rachel was right when she stated that he was shallow... I also heard that he has no close friends... Just 'social' friends... But no one in his confidence.... I think that's sad, but that could just be a 'guy' thing. I don't know.. I couldn't imagine going through life not having someone I can really talk to. I'm not mad at him. He no longer pays any particular attention to me, or seeks out my company, but I'm okay with that... These are just my observations about his character. And I could be totally off. *shrugs*

I want to nestle in a giant pile of pillows and blankets and watch movies with friends... That would make me happy....

I want to go play my Wicked piano music. I am in love with this latest edition to my piano library!!!

Hmmm.... I miss my dog... Even though I haven't played with her allll year.... :-( I need to give her a bath...

I am soooo sore from PE yesterday.... I had to do 75 push-ups, 75 sit-ups, and 20 bench presses, 20 lat pulls, 20 arm curls, and 20 leg extensions, plus run for 12 minutes. I am so out of shape it's not even funny. I don't know what people get from exercise... I'm probably just really wimpy... I don't get past the pain.

I got to play in band today, finally!!!! I love my tenor sax! Band made me really happy... I missed being able to play. Yay for getting over wisdom teeth!

...Now if the stupid holes in the back of my mouth would just heal and close... I'm tired of cleaning food out of them...

Ok... I'm going to go memorize...

A conversation held while stargazing...

Julia: Hey Sarah, do you see that blinking star?
Me: Yeah, it's a satellite.
Julia: No it's not.
Me: Yeah, it is.
Julia: No, it's not moving. Satellites move.
Me: Satellites don't move!
Julia: Yes, they do! They orbit!
Me: What?!
Julia: They orbit... They move!
Me: ...Nooooo... They don't...
*pause*
Julia: Sarah, you're kidding, right?
Me: NO!
Julia: *laughs hysterically* You can watch a satellite move across the sky.
Me: Maybe it's a stagnant airplane......
Julia: Ok Sarah, do you remember seeing the shooting star the other night?
Me: Yeah...
Julia: A satellite is like that, only it lasts longer, and an airplane has red lights and blinks.
Me: Are you sure that star's not moving?
Julia: Yeah, it's been there all night.
*Both collapse into laughter*

We then went back to the car and proceeded to drive around the block three times past these teenagers on the dock...

I love PotC!

Have I mentioned how much I love Pirates of the Caribbean? Amanda and I watched it tonight! Julia did for a little too, but then she had to go to work. Then Julie and Bryan came over and we watched Shrek 1 and 2. Both of which I had never seen before... Very spoofy, but I enjoyed it!

Last night, Holly, John R. Rachel and I played Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit again.... This game lasted for four hours, with John finally becoming the victor. It was intense!!! Rachel and John had to invent a new rule for me though... Because I would get so excited about knowing the answer I often would blurt out the WRONG thing then try to correct myself... So they made me count to at least 5 before I answered anything... lol...

Hey, I'm coming home oh-so-briefly this weekend... It's my little sister's 1st communion and so I will have extended family visiting... I'll probably spend it working on my 2 speaches for Oral Comm and memorizing my lines for the May Term play, so now I don't even know why I'm stating that I'm coming home, because I doubt I'll have time to do anything with anyone if anyone should have anytime to spend with me....

lol.... "Who's on first?"

...Hmmm... There are people out in my hallway... I hope they're sober....

Ah! It's 38 degrees Farenhiet!!! It's May for crying out loud! I STILL have not been able to wear my new halter top.

Ok, I'm going to go to bed.... G'night all!

STAR WARS Day...

May the Fourth be with you!

Wednesday, May 03, 2006

Happy times!

Today, I beat John Robbins at Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit after two and a half hours of intense gaming. It was sooooo fun!!! We're both about the same level of LotR knowledge so it was fun. There were times when we both couldn't remember stupid little things... Like, I totally forgot the name of the BIGGEST city in Gondor.... Minas Tirith... It was really silly... All I could think of was Osgilith and Minas Morgul... Whis isn't even in Gondor and was from anonther question. And John struggled with the placement of rivers, mountain ranges and Rohirrim burial places. I did finally get on a roll though... It was pretty amazing.... with questions like:

"Who's eye change from yellow to blue as the series progressed?"

And you people should guess...

And I got it right and John and Julia were very impressed. :-) It was soooo much fun! I want to play again. :-) I love that game! But we might try and tackle my Special Edition STAR WARS Trivial Pursuit next... Which is truely hard... Like, you have to know information about the people in the CREDITS... With questions similar to:"Who was the boom operator in 'The Return of the Jedi'?" lol... And John and I are trying to find a time when we can marathon the 3 extended edition LotR movies.... Which I've already done once, but would like to do it again. :-)

We got more music in band!!! :-D We are now also playing an awesome suite from Wizard of Oz.... It's 5 pages long. Heehee... The tuba part rocks big time!!! :-)

Tonight Julia, Katie, Jill and I made a fire in one of the small planted grills in on campus and rosted marshmallows and made s'mores. It was really fun... The stars were nice and bright... Even from where we were. We found Leo, the Big Dipper, Polaris, and I think Venus.

Alright.... night all!

Music makes me high... ON LIFE! :-D

I really wanted to leave my poem as the top post for a while longer BUT this could not be contained...

I want to hurry up and get 100% better because I cannot wait to start playing in May Term Band!!!!

BECAUSE WE ARE PLAYING PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

Like, you have no idea.... I KNOW I played it last year in high school, but I love it to bits... And you know what? I don't care if people say: "Hey that's cool, I played it my [so-and-so] year of high school." I'm GONNA PLAY IT AGAIN!!!! *SQUEEEEEE!!!!!* :-D

I know, I know... My excitement is pretty much ridiculous!!! AHHHH!!!!! THIS IS MY FAVORITE PIECE EVERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

I think playing this piece brings out the epitome of my musical dorkyness... I'm sitting in the saxophone section and I'm following along because I can't play yet because of my mouth and I'm grooving along and counting and... AHHHH! :-D Do you ever get so excited that you think you are going to explode?

Well, that is me, waiting to get better so I can play PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!!!!

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

We're also playing Highlights from Beauty and the Beast, The Waltzing Cat, (which is a cool song written in the 1960's by Leroy Anderson-- the guy who wrote the music to the song "Sleigh Ride") and Finiculi Finicula!!!! WHICH I ALSO LOVE!!!! If you don't know Finiculi Finicula it is also known as "Napoli" and "My High Silk Hat" recenltly used as a VeggieTales silly song. There's a piece by Liszt and an Irish balland that sounds amazing!

Wow... I am sooooo glad I'm required to be in May Term Band.... AHHH! I CAN'T WAIT!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

...If I had the choice and decided NOT to, I think I would have joined back up anyway....

In other news, wisdom teeth still suck. I had cottage cheese, this purple yogurt stuff, some vegetable soup and two slices of buttered bread for dinner. Kind of depressing, no?

I haven't decided what I think about the May Term play... It's still weird, but now I agree that it will help me develop as an actor.

Oh, and Trumpet/French Horn Class... I hate you. I don't care if it's because I didn't have time to practice, so therefore I stink at playing them. I still don't like you. So there. :-P

Whaaaaat else.... Oh, I blew a raspberry at Matt today, during play practice, and... Yeah. That was about the worst thing EVER! WOW! It definately hurt a lot. I am going to refrain from doing that for a while.

The lilac trees are starting to blooooooooom!!!!!! :-D :-D :-D My favorite flower!!! :-D

Rachel, Bryan and I just finished watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Wow. What an awesome, hilarious, RIDICULOUS movie!!!! And as I watched it, I remembered how ridiculously obsessed I was with it was I was in kindergarten. And good grief, I know when mom reads this she is gonna think about the home video proof we have of this.... Oooooooh mannnnnn.... *hides* I must say I HAD forgotten about words like "bodacious" and "cowabunga." So that in itself was amusing... heeeheeheeheee...

Oh, and if I EVER come across a guy who tries to flirt with me by calling me "babe" "chick" or "toots" I swear I will pop him one good one. I don't care if he's drunk or what-have-you. He will get a bloody nose from ME!

So there.

Ok, I'm going to bed!

Threedlooo-threedlooo!!!!
