Crappy Day...

First of all, I would like to thank Mom for the card in the mail, and all of my family for the care package to commemorate my 1/2 birthday... It helps a lot... Because today has sucked... :-(

My flute lesson today was from hell... I am not joking. It was absolutely terrible... I had practiced Monday and Tuesday, with a metronome no less... For 50 minutes! That is a lot for me! (And I usually have my lessons on Wednesday, but last week it was moved to Friday, so I had 2 days less to practice) and I felt fairly prepared for today...

So I got to my lesson and my teacher begins GRILLING me on my scales. It was crazy! Like, not even spaces between them.... We've never warmed up this way before! We just went around the circle of 5ths, only stopping when I messed up... (Which was quite often.) And it threw me off when we went from D-flat major to B major because for some reason I thought we would do flats, then go back and start on G major and do sharps. But no, we went allllll the way 'round the circle of 5ths. (And of course I have to play all my scales extended, so no matter what the key signature, if it's flats I start on middle C, and play up three octaves to the high B-flat then back down to middle C. Sharps are the same except you start on C-sharp and go up to B-natural.)

Then we did minor scales, up to three sharps and three flats. Yeah... THOSE were also rather painful... Because I know them on piano and not very well on flute... So she asks me to play the minor scale with 3 sharps, which I identify as f-sharp while thinking: 3-4-1-2-3-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-1-2-3-4, which is the ascending finger pattern for that scale on the piano, (two octaves.) Well, of course this doesn't help me on flute... So, because I'm already flustered from the major scales I stumble even more through the minors.

Then we do... *shudder* arpeggios... Which were the worst of ALL! She had me do ALL my major, then ALL my minor arpeggios, right after another... And part of what drives me nuts about this, is I always practice by playing the scale followed by the arpeggio... That's how she TOLD me to practice!

AHHH!

And she wasn't just sitting there doing nothing, she was constantly saying things like: "No, start again... Your articulation was off, begin again... You missed a note, start over.... Sarah you need to get these down, now start again!" in a very impatient, agitated tone.

Then Margie, who plays piano for me, comes at 10:25 like I scheduled her, and I'm still running arpeggios. When I finally finish, I feel so frustrated with everything... I know I can play my scales and arpeggios. I really think the whole thing was ridiculous...

Anyway, so we start working on my solo and I get to the third beat of the second measure and she stops me because it's too slow... So then she grills me about what tempo I've been practicing and then she goes on about how I should be at 120 = the beat instead of 84 and all that... (The piece I'm playing in in 6/8 time with lots of crazy subdivision.) Granted, that is a big difference, but so is being able to play 32nd notes and not being able to play them at all.

So we start the solo again at a tempo closer to what she wanted, and we get towards the end of the movement and I play a rhythm incorrectly. So she stops me saying, that I should be playing the trills and grace-notes by now... I've "evidentially" had this solo long enough... And gives me a measure to start from so I can get this rhythm. And I miss it again. And she's instantly like, "NO! Start again!" Then she counts off weird, which throws Margie and I off... So we start yet another time, and halfway to the trouble spot she starts counting out loud, which is honestly SO annoying! Like, it is NOT helping! :-P Then I get to the trouble spot and am totally off, and she freaks out! She comes over exclaiming how much I'm playing it wrong and asking why I am having problems with this passage... The whole, "You should know this! Why can't you play this? How much have you been practicing?" From my perspective, I see this as completely unreasonable... I don't know why this was such a big deal! Had she come over and been like, "Ok, this part is giving you trouble. Do you know why?" and walked me through what was giving me a hard time, that would have been fine. I don't want to be spoonfed the answers, but I don't want to be marooned at sea either!

Overall, the whole lesson was a disaster and I got out of there as quick as I could. Margie gave me about 10 long hugs as I cried about the stupid lesson. This pretty much ranks up there with my jury experience last year.

I really hope she was having a bad day or something... Because I REALLY don't want to go to my lesson next week... Not if I'm going to end up in tears again.

Schedule fix...

Hey! I re-figured out my schedule so it's not so gross anymore!!! Yay! I'm dropping Physics and taking History of Science.

SOOOOO, that means I can take Music Theory III at 9 am instead of 7:45!!!! YAY!!!!! Then I'll have Psyc at 10:45 to 11:50, and History of Science at 12 pm. Everything else stays the same. Whew!!!

Oh! And I found a roommate for next year! w00t! Leah, the oboe in symphonic band came and asked me if I had a roommate yet... Because Wartburg changed the commuting rules, so she now has to live on campus. So that stressor is now gone! *w00t*

Ok, back to homework-type stuff...

In other news, Rachel and I just finished watching the two hour premiere of "Dark Kingdom" on Sci-Fi. It's pretty much freaking amazing! :-D Sometimes it's predictable, sometimes it's not, which keeps it amusing. When they first introduced the younger brother of the king, I was like, "Hey! He looks like Cedric Diggory!" And Rachel was like, "Eh... Kinda..." So I get on IMBD, and sure enough...


IT WAS! ROBERT PATTINSON IS IN DARK KINGDOM!!! AHHHHHHH!!!


Wow.... I think he is sooooooo handsome!!! *swooooon*

Crazy day... It did snow after all...

Okay, I would like to say to whoever moves the pianos around in the practice rooms: You are crazy. Why can't you just leave them where they are? It drives me nuts to go in that quad of practice rooms and see that every piano is in a different position from yesterday. I'm sure you have better things to do with your time.

Oh, and if you don't want people walking in while you're quietly sitting in your practice room, lock the door. That's what the locks are for. :-P

Hmmm... what happened today...

I GOT MY HAIR CUT!

:-D

This makes me very happy, and I really crazy about this cut. :-D :-D I also got red highlights, which takes out a lot of the blonde. I like it! :-) The cut's a little above my shoulders, with great layers, and I'll still be able to pull it back out of my face. Bad news is that it cost $93.09. Ouch. :-( I grossly under-estimated the cost, which rendered me unable to give my hairstylist a tip of any worth. This is the most I've ever spent on a trim and highlight. Now I know where not to go... :-P I like it, she did a nice job, I just can't afford it. :-P

I'm coming home this weekend! Yay!

Wow! A new post!

Okay, so I'm finally updating this. Everyone has done a great job guessing the songs! :-)

I'm actually posting because I had this amazing dream last night! I was very much impressed with the cinematic excellence of my imagination. I really wanted to post about it right when I woke up at a quarter to three, but I knew I needed to be able to get up for class. :-P So I just woke myself up enough to remember the dream.

In my dream I was home, and at my high school for a football game or something, because I was sitting in the in the Buick, which was parked on the front lawn of the school. (It's where you park when everything else is full.) It was dark and I had the inside lights on in the car. I think I was putting something away in my purse. The car was running and the radio was on, and this news flash comes on over the radio announcing that there have been sightings of a large puma in the immediate area, and everyone is advised to stay indoors until it is caught. So I'm like, ok, I'd better get home quick and I look up...

AND THERE IN FRONT OF ME IS THE PUMA!!!!

And it is staring intently at me...

Seeing this, I start freaking out... Like flailing about and yelling, as I try to get the car in gear. I definitely forgot it was already on as I thrash about trying to look for the car keys.

I finally get the car in reverse as the cat begins to stalk the car. I gun it JUST as the puma runs and LEAPS onto the hood of the car with a metallic thud. I scream, slam on the breaks, and jerk the steering wheel to the right. The cat slides off the side, snarling and yowling, and as I fumble about trying to put the car in drive. As I'm doing this, the puma jumps up and tries to break through the passenger side window. (Sort of along the lines of that horror movie about that dog... Kujo or something... I haven't seen all of the movie, only clips.) It's snapping and growling and scraping at the window with its claws. Barely able to hold the wheel because I'm shaking so hard, I stomp on the gas, and tires squealing, peel out of the parking lot,.

I turn onto the street and the puma is still chasing me. I don't know why, but I decided to try to loose it by zigzagging and looping through the street blocks. So I'm driving like a maniac jerking the wheel every-which-way as I try to escape the puma. (Oddly enough, I went from my high school parking lot to driving around the Wartburg campus... Around the suite buildings and stuff...) During one of the sharp turns I was making, the puma leaps for the car and I hit it. It flies off to the side, I race home barely able to control the car because I was so scared.

I told my parents what happened and we reported it, but on the news the next morning, they were still unable to locate the animal.

Because my high school is often dumb, they do not cancel classes and figure that they just won't have recess outside. They forbid any students to walk, so everyone either rides the bus or has their parents drop them off. It's also pouring rain outside, with some strong thunder and lightning.

I needed to go back to school for some reason, so I drive back... Still quite leery about what happened last night. (I'm driving our van now, since the Buick got beat up from the puma chase). I stop in the office to do something that I don't remember, and in the office, getting a visitor's badge was this tall, lean (handsome) rather young man, dressed in a very nice suit. Jan, the secretary, introduced me, but I don't remember his name, because in my dream I referred to him as "The Man in the Suit". (I expect it's something like "The Man in the Yellow Hat"...) Jan asked me if I would show him to the classroom on the second floor... The one on the left, next to the counselor's office. (Which, actually wasn't there in my dream. The hall just conveniently ended with a window.) So I take the Man in the Suit up to the second floor, and for some reason I just walk halfway down the hall point and out the classroom. He thanks me and heads for the classroom. I turn around and walk back, and right when I reach the stairs there is this almighty clap of thunder and the lights go out.

Kids jokingly shriek from the various classrooms and teachers shout to maintain order, and I turn to look behind me to see if the Man made it to the room, as the hall was almost pitch black.

When I turned, I could see the faint silhouette of the Man against the window, facing me.

Outside, there was a sudden flash of lightning, and in the strobing of the light, one second I saw the silhouette of the Man, and the next second I saw the PUMA and then the Man again!

In the time it had taken for me to do a double take of what I had thought I'd seen the Man walked into the classroom and was gone. Convincing myself that I was still in shock and was having hallucinations I leave.

The next part I remember is I'm back at the school, starting to walk to the football field for the 3rd quarter. I'm walking past the front of the school when I get this weird feeling and I turn around...

And (yep, I'm sure you guessed it) THERE, ABOUT 15 FEET AWAY, IS THE PUMA! It was crouched and slowly stalking me... Its tail twitching back and forth as it stared at me with unblinking eyes.

My first instinct is to run for shelter somewhere, but I was frozen in fear. I remember that I was shaking and felt very sick to my stomach. I was trying to scream but no sound would come out of my mouth.

I started to back away, still too scared to make a break for it. The cat, seeing that I had become aware of its presence began to advance quicker. As I stumble backwards the cat breaks into a jog and POUNCES for my throat!

I conveniently pass out.

When I come to (I'm still dreaming) I'm laying, curled up, on the couch in this RV which is traveling down the highway. I ache all over, and I notice that my right arm, from my wrist to my elbow is wrapped in a bandage. I slowly sit up and look around and sitting on the other end of the couch is the Man with in Suit! His right arm was resting on the top of the couch and his torso was facing me, as he was staring at me intently.

I try to back away but he tells me that would not be beneficial to my wounds and that he wasn't going to harm me. His manner wasn't warm and friendly, nor was it cruel. It was just cool and indifferent.

I managed to stammer out something along the lines of "where am I, who are you, and what am I doing here" and the Man partially answers my question by explaing (as if this dream isn't weird and crazy already) that he belongs to an obscure race of people who posses the ability to turn into cats, and that they've been feared and hated all throughout history. Like in medieval times when they burned cats because people during that period thought that cats were the devil incarnate... He stated that most of those people belonged to this "race" and now they were basically a bunch of nomadic tribes that travel from place to place. It evidentially was hard for the then to find work because they have to alter their appearance. Like wear special contact lenses to change the shape of their pupils and stuff.

Oh, and my arm was bandaged because they had used my blood to stage my death back home so they could kidnap me without worrying about people looking for me. I remember feeling like it wasn't a malicious kidnapping... It was one of those "for your own good"-type of things... Somehow I was involved in what was going to happen... lol...

The sad thing is that I woke up before I found out why I was kidnapped!!! How frustrating!

Oh, and I also remember that the RV was one of those older ones... you know, the beige exterior with the brown and orange stripes on the side. :-P And in addition to the Man in the Suit, there was a wife, a son and a daughter, and a random guy driving the RV. (Who was related to everyone else, but I don't know how....) And the guy driving the RV definitely had a mullet... Very much like David Bowie's in Labyrinth... And if you haven't seen that movie, think outrageous 80's rock star mullet. :-P

Yeah... that was totally random...

So, that's my crazy weird, amazing dream. I don't think I've ever had a dream filled with this much detail... And I can definitely pick out somethings from real life that made it into my dream... The Man in the Suit? DEFINITELY a close resemblance to Paul Bettany (Cox) in the movie Firewall. Both had very similar "cool" mannerisms. The car chases are pretty much standard Hollywood fare, so that could have come from any number of things. Why a puma? I have no idea... And it was definitely called "a puma" in my dream... not a mountain lion or cougar.... A puma... lol...

I also remember waking up and thinking "Wow Sarah... I think you've been watching too much anime..."

I hope you guys found this entirely amusing... lol :-P

Theatrical terms...

This is a list that I found on the internet. It's pretty funny, even if you're not involved in theatre.

Eternity - The time that passes between a dropped cue and the next line.

Prop - A hand-carried object small enough to be lost by an actor 30 seconds before it is needed on stage.

Director - The individual who suffers from the delusion that he or she is responsible for every moment of brilliance cited by the critic in the local review.

Blocking - The art of moving actors on the stage in such a manner as not to collide with the walls, the furniture, the orchestra pit or each other. Similar to playing chess, except that the pawns want to argue with you.

Blocking Rehearsal - A rehearsal taking place early in the production schedule where actors frantically write down movements which will be nowhere in evidence by opening night.

Quality Theater - Any show with which you were directly involved.

Turkey - Every show with which you were not directly involved.

Dress Rehearsal - Rehearsal that becomes a whole new ball game as actors attempt to maneuver among the 49 objects that the set designer added at 7:30 that evening.

Tech Week - The last week of rehearsal when everything that was supposed to be done weeks before finally comes together at the last minute; reaches its grand climax on dress rehearsal night when costumes rip, a dimmer pack catches fire and the director has a nervous breakdown. Also known as "hell" week.

Set - An obstacle course which, throughout the rehearsal period, defies the laws of physics by growing smaller week by week while continuing to occupy the same amount of space.

Monologue - That bright, shining moment when all eyes are focused on a single actor who is desperately aware that if he forgets a line, no one can save him.

Dark Night - The night before opening when no rehearsal is scheduled so the actors and crew can go home and get some well deserved rest, and instead spend the night staring sleeplessly at the ceiling because they're sure they needed one more rehearsal.

Bit Part - An opportunity for the actor with the smallest role to count everybody else's lines and mention repeatedly that he or she has the smallest part in the show.

Green Room - Room shared by nervous actors waiting to go on stage and the precocious children whose actor parents couldn't get a baby-sitter that night, a situation which can result in justifiable homicide.

Dark Spot - An area of the stage which the lighting designer has inexplicably forgotten to light, and which has a magnetic attraction for the first-time actor. A dark spot is never evident before opening night.

Hands - Appendages at the end of the arms used for manipulating one's environment, except on a stage, where they grow six times their normal size and either dangle uselessly, fidget nervously, or try to hide in your pockets.

Stage Manager - Individual responsible for overseeing the crew, supervising the set changes, baby-sitting the actors and putting the director in a hammerlock to keep him from killing the actor who just decided to turn his walk-on part into a major role by doing magic tricks while he serves the tea.

Lighting Director - Individual who, from the only vantage point offering a full view of the stage, gives the stage manager a heart attack by announcing a play-by-play of everything that's going wrong.

Makeup Kit - (1) Among experienced community theater actors, a battered tackle box loaded with at least 10 shades of greasepaint in various stages of desiccation, tubes of lipstick and blush, assorted pencils, bobby pins, braids of crepe hair, liquid latex, old programs, jewelry, break-a-leg greeting cards from past shows, brushes and a handful of half-melted cough drops.(2) For first-time male actors, a helpless look and anything they can borrow.

The Forebrain - The part of an actor's brain which contains lines, blocking and characterization; activated by hot lights.

The Hindbrain - The part of an actor's brain that keeps up a running subtext in the background, while the forebrain is trying to act. The hindbrain supplies a constant stream of unwanted information. Such as who is sitting in the second row tonight, a notation to seriously maim the crew member who thought it would be funny to put real Tabasco sauce in the fake Bloody Marys, or the fact that you need to do laundry on Sunday.

Stage Crew - Group of individuals who spend their evenings coping with 50-minute stretches of total boredom interspersed with 30-second bursts of mindless panic.

Message Play - Any play which its director describes as "worthwhile," "a challenge to actors and audience alike," or "designed to make the audiencethink." Critics will be impressed both by the daring material and the roomy accommodations, since they're likely to have the house all to themselves.

Bedroom Farce - Any play which requires various states of undress on stage and whose set sports a lot of doors. The lukewarm reviews, all of which feature the phrase "typical community theater fare" in the opening paragraph, are followed paradoxically by a frantic attempt to schedule more performances to accommodate the overflow crowds.

Assistant Director - Individual willing to undertake special projects that nobody else would take on a bet, such as working one-on one with the brain-dead actor whom the rest of the cast has threatened to take out a contract on.

Set Piece - Any large piece of furniture which actors will resolutely use as a safety shield between themselves and the audience, in an apparent attempt to both anchor themselves to the floor, thereby avoiding floating off into space, and to keep the audience from seeing that they actually have legs.

Strike - The time immediately following the last performance while all cast and crew members are required to stay and dismantle (or watch the two people who own Makita screw drivers) dismantle the set.

Actors (As defined by a set designer) - People who stand between the audience and the set designer's art, blocking the view. That's also the origin of the word "blocking," by the way.

Stage Right, Stage Left - Two simple directions actors pretend not to understand in order to drive directors crazy. ("No, no, your OTHER stage right!")

Heehee, the title really isn't anything, it's just a joke between Jessica and I.... ;-D

Ok, so yesterday Jessica came home from Drake. I cannot tell you how happy this made me... Like it rocked! So I got off work and called her and we squealed on the phone, but she was about to go out to dinner, so we agreed to do something as soon as possible, however I needed to get home for dinner. We agreed to call each other later, because I needed to get the "okay" from Mom about spending the night at her house.

Of course it was okay! :-D

So I had dinner with my family and my aunt and cousin who were visiting, and then went to Jessica's house around 8:30.

Wow, it was so good to see her again! I hadn't seen her since Christmas break... *squeals* So when I got there we of COURSE made avocado fetta salsa, as we always do because it is freaking, flipping amazing! I diced the onion while she did everything else as I gave her a very passionate and animated description of the plot to the movie "Firewall."

And then we ate the ENTIRE bowl. With chips, of course, as her family finished watching "Yours, Mine and Ours."

Then she showed me some of the stuff that she was doing in her music "for non-majors" class. It sounds pretty cool, but a little hard. I think she likes it though... Her professor sounds pretty interesting... haha!

Then about 10:30 pm we started "Just Like Heaven" which we had wanted to see together waaaaaay back BEFORE this school year even started...

WOW.... THAT IS A GREAT MOVIE TOO!!! Like, it was kind of "weird" at times, but totally amazing and warm and cute and sweet and.... OOHHHH! I loved it!!! :-D :-D :-D

So that movie got done around 12:30 and we were both wide awake... I figure the estrogen levels in that room were uber-sky high. Like, we were both squealing and kicking and jumping around and grinning like maniacs. It was totally girly... haha!

So then we figure that we're too tired to go right to bed, so we opted for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire!" w00t! We both made our respective "nests"... Me on the loveseat, and Jess on the couch and we got tons of blankets and were all cozy-like... Jess fell asleep into the second task, and I dosed off in the middle of the Yule Ball. I remember waking up when the battery on her laptop died, and it was at the beginning of the 3rd task. I perceive this as good timing, due to the fact that dozing during the creepy part at the end of the movie would probably give me nightmares. :-P

Then we woke up at 8:30 and we laid there for an hour, and talked... Basically bombarding each other with our amazing morning breath... hahaha! When we finally got up and got dressed we ate some Panara Bread bagels and papaya. It was uber-good!

After THAT we went to Cabin Coffee, because we were due for another visit...lol! I texted Casey to see what his plans were, and Jess and I decided to run to Target to drop off some film and shop! w00t! I finally called Casey and he was out eating, but said he'd call me later.

So at Target, Jessica and I had, basically a bunch of fun... hahaha! We tried on some clothes that looked why cool, but on us, they looked utterly horrid. It was really sad and awful and we quickly ducked out of that depressing situation. :-P Whilst looking at the shoes Casey called me back, and we aimlessly talked trying to figure out what to do, since he had come into town, partly to chill with me after my wisdom teeth. He surprised us in the DVD aisle and I promised to call Jess later and left to hang out with Casey. (Don't worry, I had talked to Jess about this before, I wasn't ditching her or anything.) :-P

We went to East Park and walked. It was really nice and warm, except that the sun wasn't staying out... Stupid clouds... :-P Then we went to his house (because my siblings are sick) :-( and watched Victor Borge. It was fun. Way different attitude when we're together, but fun. :-)

I got back home around 4 and called Jess, and agreed to go over around 5:15 so we both could get some... um, I think it's called.... studying... yeah.... So we both could get some studying done... lol!

So BACK at Jessica's house... Honestly, I just live there... lol.... I ate dinner with them... It was spectacular!!!! Salad with avocados in it, with raspberry-poppyseed dressing, then toasted French bread, and bacon-wrapped SHRIMP! Oh. My. Gosh. I cannot believe how big this shrimp was! Jess's family had gotten them when they were in Texas this past week and they were from the Gulf... Wow... They were freaking gi-normous!!!!! :-D :-D :-D And Jess's mom made homemade cocktail dip which had the best "zing" to it, EVER!!!!!!! Like, I wanted to stay there and eat and eat and eat FOREVER!!!! AHHHHHH! :-D

Then Jess agreed to go with me to see Mason City's performance of "The Memory of Water". Mike and Laura were in it, and I totally wanted to go see them... :-D

Wow!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed myself... The show was spectacular!!!!! Lots of talent pretty much freaking all around! It was a pretty deep, and complex show... Very hilarious at times... Amazing timing... It flowed really well. I'm just... wow... Heehee! I loved it! And it was absolutely great to see Mike and Laura after the show. :-D (Hugs pretty much rock my face off!) And I introduced them to Jessica and we all talked about Drake and college in general. It was great! :-D

Then on the way home Jessica and I had a pretty deep conversation about the revelations I've had about the guys who I previously liked, and why I now realize that they were not the guys for me, and how I currently am devoid of romantic feelings for anyone. I suppose that sounds depressing, but I don't know how else to put it... I don't feel empty or anything, it's just weird/different... And a little lonely at times... :-P

Now I'm home and I'm going back to the 'Burg tomorrow... Definitely not ready to go back, but there's nothing I can do... This break really did fly by...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY!!! *hugs*

Ok, so today's weather was definately better then yesterday!!! Thanks Nic and Scott for the comments. :-) It was in the upper 40's and nicely sunny! I called Jill and we went for a nice long walk in Mason, then we watched the new "Pride and Prejudice".

AHHHHHHHHHH! It was soooooo AH-MAY-ZING!!!!! I enjoyed it to the "nth" degree!!!!! I couldn't just help but sit there and utterly swoon away at all the twists, turns and sublties and romaticness of it all.... (Mr. Darcy is so coool.... *siiiigh....*) I wish there were still dancing parties like that.

And I wish I could dance.

*siiiiiigh*

The closest thing to those romantic ideals we have now is when guys hold doors open for people to pass though. Sad. :-(

LOL... and I'm still sitting were wishing that someday I'll find a guy who'll write me little notes and poems and stuff.... I'm such a dork... :-P

Nothing too exciting...

Mmm.... Didn't do much today... I went and tried to find a summer job... I'm too early. I'll just have to try again over my next break. :-P

Drew sent me the script for next summer's movie! I am way pumped! It looks like it will be really good! I'm pretty happy with my part. It sounds like I get more "on screen time" then actual lines, but that's ok. lol...

I got in the mood to be "artsy" tonight, so I went on Google Images and drew a horse and a snow leopard. The horse looks pretty good, but I had some problems with the perspective on the leopard's paws, so they look off. I think I'll do some more tomorrow, since I don't have to get my wisdom teeth out. And work on bow-ties... I need to get that done... lol

I did another page of the ear-training homework! Yay!

Tomorrow is my sister, Mary's birthday. w00t! :-D

It's raining outside, and I am entirely fed up with it. SUN! I WANT SUN! Well, ok, so it's almost midnight... How about sun WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE SUN-TIME! AH! No more of this drearyness crap...

Ooooh life....

Sooo, interesting day today...

I went to my doctor's appointment today... It turns out I have a small sinus infection. Pretty much what I/my mom suspected. Stupid head cold.... (Thanks Emily ) So the doctor prescribed some antibiotics (side effects, which include, in rare cases, kidney stones... weird...) Then around 3 pm Mom, Dad and I went to the hospital for my wisdom teeth consultation...

And waited a ridiculous amount of time, punctuated by bits of medical-related paper work...

And then the assistant called us in, and lead us to a pea-green examining room, where we watched a movie about the wisdom teeth procedure. That was only ten minutes long...

Then we waited another ridiculous amount of time... And the doctor came in and he looked at my x-rays and talked about the procedure and stuff. He seemed really nice.

BUT!

Due to the fact that I have a sinus infection, I cannot have my wisdom teeth removed at this time. This is because the top wisdom teeth lie near to the sinus wall, and sometimes the removal of the teeth and bring a piece of sinus wall with it. Normally this just heals and everything is fine, but with the added bacteria that cause a sinus infection, the hole can heal improperly which results in a hole from your mouth into your sinus.

Yuck.

So the new date is April 27th, during tour week. *siiiigh*


On a more fun note, I took Stephen and Philomena to see Curious George. Mary came too. It was a cute movie! I really liked it. I miss my siblings while I'm at school, so I wanted to do something fun with them. :-)

I got to see Mike and Laura today! It was great, because they rock! :-D We went and ate ice cream at Borealis, it was pretty sweet. I hope I feel well enough to go see them in their play next weekend.

-Does it ever feel like the shuffle on iTunes is not random??? It's kind of annoying sometimes...

Smug...

Please allow me to pause for a minute as I revel in my smugness... :-) I did some Horvit today. YAY! I do not want to end up like the last time ear training was due... Up till 2:30 am... ick. So I am doing it now. Yay! Homework during break isn't the nicest thing, but I know it has to get done. It's better then staring at AOL and MSN all day, waiting for someone to log on. :-P

I must say, Stephen is very happy that I'm home... He's been telling me what to do and showing me random things all day. He's so sweet. :-)

Wow, I just finished a bowl of leftover conversation hearts and can of pringles... I don't eat very healthy here at home... lol...

I went and saw "Aquamarine" tonight with Mary. It was okay... Definately a "cutesie" movie... BUT!!! OH! (heehee) Jake McDorman is a definate hottie!!! *siiiiigh* :-D

The movie did put me through a small pining trip again, though... The whole: I don't have a boyfriend, I've only been to one dance. EVER. (And I wasn't even asked really, Kelvin and I just agreed to go together. It was a mutual thing, basied on the fact that neither of us had dates...) It didn't help that tonight was Mason's Sadie Hakwins dance. :-( I just kind of sat there in the theatre and started feeling like I missed out on so much... And there's nothing I can do about it, because I know I wouldn't be who I am now, had I experienced those things. It's a vicious cycle... I don't like it... :-P

...And the way Raymond (Jake) was flirting in the movie was totally awesome and increadably sweet, and I soooo wish that would happen to me. I'm an uber-dork I know, but I don't care. *siiiigh*

Wow, this post has gotten extemely deep into the land of self-pity and wishy-washy-ness... :-P I should go to bed...

Hey, I'm home!

Well, I made it home, finally... I got done with classes and all that jazz. Work too... Bleh. My sight singing test was far easier then I expected.... Just one melody out of the 100, 10 measures of the Modis Novis (an evil book that has no structured melody... it's all tritones and weird stuff like that...) :-P Unfortunately, just because it was easier then I thought, doesn't mean I did well... :-P I'm thinking this was the final nail in the coffin that is my ear training test... :-P Oh, and I got some homework back too... I need to crack down on some of that stuff... I make stupid mistakes in my work.

I did come out of music theory today with a humorous quote, however...

Ah! Math!

All right all you math people out there... Explain what a "mod" is and what a "mod26" is and how do I use it????

Our closet thing is finally bent and off the tracks for good... We will have to call maintenence. :-P

Woohoo! I'm excited about coming home! :-D I should get back sometime Friday afternoon. I have a million things to do, and tell, and all that stuff.... But it will be nice to take a break from campus.

Bleh... The Mensa made me mad tonight.... Of COURSE they would have my favorite meal today, of all days.... >:-( Chicken Strips! I ate a crab salad sandwich instead.

I think I do have a sinus infection... I took some Claritin today to see if it was allergies or something, but it didn't make a difference.... Grrr... How annoying...

One week until I get my wisdom teeth out... They are starting to hurt regularly, so I want to get them out, but I don't want to put up with the pain afterwards... I know... You can't have one without the other... :-P And I'm a wimp... But still... lol!

Today in IS we learned about the "Caesar cypher" and how to encode and decode messages. I can encode pretty well, but it's the decoding that I find hard. Maybe I have a mental block against working backwards... lol
